We’ve all done it, spent an obscene amount on skincare and beauty products. After all, self-care is notoriously essential in today’s society and we do need to put our best face forward, quite literally, right? But sometimes it’s as if the checkout cart mocks us as we check the little tick box that asks us to confirm our basket. Or the lady at the checkout silently judges us as she scans the final product and says carefully, “That will be $87.95”. But alas, yes. I am sure I want to spend half my spending cash this month on new skincare and then directly proceed home to cook myself noodles with butter, my new found, cheap diet for the week.
Today’s society is obsessed with skincare, overwhelmed with information, and overloaded with choices. We’re constantly being told about the new beauty/skincare product that is going to give us life-changing results. Often times, we see certain products get a cult-like following behind them, growing in popularity due partially to their results but also largely due to, simply put, a lot of hype.
We’ve done the groundwork for you and compiled a short but sweet list of cult beauty products that are actually worth the hype – all tried and tested by yours truly so you can count on the results.
1. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
First made popular by Kylie Jenner, this fast-acting spot treatment is a holy lifesaver. After years struggling with annoying spots and trying basically every product on the market, this is the only one that truly works overnight. Simply put it on your spots at night, sleep, and wake up and you will see they are visibly reduced if not entirely gone! I cannot recommend this product enough.
2. Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Drops
Just add a few drops of this concentrated facial tanning liquid into your moisturizer/serum day or night and apply for an instant natural tan that develops even more throughout the day. I constantly get asked, and sometimes stopped on the street, about my “natural glow”. This is the product I singlehandedly attribute it to. My skin also seems to love this product and its texture has become smoother, softer, and plumper after continued use. I feel so confident about my skin after using this product that I even have no make-up days!
3. Glossier Boy Brow
I will never use another thing for my brows, ever. Glossier as a brand has a cult-like following for producing high quality, no fuss products that the consumer really wants. Their Boy Brow is a soft liquid that comes in a small mascara-like tube and is applied to your brow with its small wand which creates tiny, hair-like strokes in your brow. The results are gorgeous, full, natural understated bushy boy-like brows; a personal favourite of mine.
4. PIXI Glow Tonic
This toner contains Glycolic Acid which naturally peels away the top, dead layer of skin cells containing pollution residue and shedding dead skin cells, both notorious for clogging pores. The results are brighter looking skin and a reduction of overall breakouts long-term. I can personally vogue for these results, with my skin being reliable and consistently clear for months now.
